Recommendation 6 days, 5-8 participants, level 2

Visevnik, Lipanski vrh and Sitna Glava: the ski tour ascents to these 2,000-metre peaks in the Triglav National Park are as fantastic as they are difficult to pronounce. There is plenty of snow, sparse forests and generous slopes. And that's just the beginning. Because these peaks are more of an introduction to the world of Triglav. There, steep cirques between rock faces, mighty firn flanks and often exposed, bold summits dominate. All of these tours, even the easier ones, are full of adventure. This begins with the approach to remote valleys far away from civilization, which can have a massive impact on tour planning depending on road closures. On the other hand, the rule also applies: the further you have to go, the fewer tracks you will find on the wide slopes above. So at the Luknja Pass under the north face of Triglav, you combine the bad luck of the long valley approach with the good fortune of huge untracked slopes... Speaking of untracked slopes: you'll hardly find them in the Kriz Kar. This tour is not one of the top tours in Slovenia for nothing, thanks to its fridge-snow-preservation character. The cirque is easily accessible and so generously dimensioned that you will almost always find a strip of fresh powder.

"I went mountain climbing in Slovenia for the first time in 2015 and was more than impressed. The highest point in the country is Triglav. Although it is "only" 2,864 m high, it is wild and inaccessible from all sides. Due to its exposed location in the south-east of the Alps, the entire region is very snowy, and the countless cirques and peaks are perfect for ski tours and exciting mountain experiences in all seasons."
