+ WONDERFUL CROSSING
+ TO THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN IN GERMANY
+ ZUGSPITZ ASCENT
+ SMALL GROUPS
The Zugspitze hike is one of the most beautiful hikes in the German Alps and a classic in the VIVALPIN program. The highlight is the ascent of the Zugspitze, at 2,962 m the highest German peak. The extraordinarily beautiful route leads on easy paths through densely wooded valleys, over sunny crossings and finally over the eternal ice of the Schneeferner to the Zugspitze. The first day already begins with a highlight: with the ascent through the Höllentalklamm gorge and further along old mountain paths to the Hupfleitenjoch viewpoint. On the second day, the route is initially tranquil via the panoramic Bernadeinsteig to the Stuiben, and later gently climbs between the rock faces of Hochwanner and Hochblassen to the beautifully situated Reintalangerhütte. The summit day is the mountaineering highlight of the hike and with a luggage depot at the Knorrhütte also easy to manage. With the descent via Gatterl to Ehrwald, the Zugspitze hike comes to a dignified end, while Germany's highest peak once again shows its impressive side.

Requirements
- 1500 Hm
- 1300 Hm
On the daily stages you can expect up to 1600 hm (if you use the summit cable car from Sonnalpin 1300 hm) and about 5h in the ascent and up to 1300 hm in the descent. Prerequisites for the Zugspitztrek are surefootedness and fitness for hikes with up to 6h (pure walking time) with about 8 kg of luggage. The route is technically easy without climbing passages. There are easy and moderately difficult mountain paths to walk, the final ascent from Sonnalpin to the Zugspitz summit is marked as a difficult (black) mountain path.
In the company of a mountain guide, the route is also manageable for sure-footed newcomers with the appropriate condition.
Good preparation is half the battle for hikes lasting several days: Get used to your mountain boots and to carrying a backpack. The best way to practice this is on hikes with comparable altitude differences.
