Snow skiing on the largest Greek island
Level
Ski tours on Crete with a state-certified mountain and ski guide. The snow is still frozen as hard as a rock. But in a few hours, fantastic, "gfüriger" firn awaits!
Shortly before the summit of Psiloritis on a ski tour in Crete. The deep blue Mediterranean can be seen in the background.
Dream descent from Psiloritis, the highest peak in Crete at 2456m. Max and Wolfi carve through the lonely landscape.

e.g.: 6 days, 5-8 participants, level 2

Crete is the largest island in Greece and is easily accessible from Germany in just a few hours. The Ida Mountains, with the 2,456-metre-high Psiloritis, are the highest peak on the island. Uniform, 30 - 35 degree slopes to the north and south offer the very best skiing terrain. The low temperatures combined with high humidity and plenty of sunshine make for unique firn conditions.

When we first got to know the area in February 2020, we encountered the best firn runs ever - with consistent snow quality from the summit to the car. The planned tours require a medium level of fitness for ascents of up to 1,300 meters with skins and good skiing technique for enjoyable descents on the 30 to 35 degree slopes. And not to forget: The hospitality on Crete is just as amazing and impressive as the ski tours!

We organize the complete ski touring trip with all our know-how on your desired date and in the best possible bases. You benefit from our experience, the tailor-made offer and the individual guidance in a homogeneous group.

Price example: 6 days ski tours Crete with state-certified mountain and ski guide with 6 participants in very good bases (double room + breakfast) from € 950,- p.p. plus flight and rental car

2nd-3rd day: Ski tours around the Ida Mountains according to the prevailing conditions. There are enough summits and tour destinations for several ski touring seasons...
Day 4: Transfer and ski tour on the way to the Lefkaori Mountains
5th-6th day: Ski tours in the Lefkaori Mountains and/or sighseeing and journey home

Note on program changes: All courses and guided tours are conscientiously organized and carried out in accordance with the safety standards of the Vivalpin Mountain and Ski School with qualified specialists (e.g. mountain and ski guides, mountain hiking guides, etc.). The provisional tour program may be adjusted for safety-related reasons, such as bad weather, dangerous conditions, unforeseen natural events or inadequate conditions of the participants. The final program will be decided by the guide on site.

You have experience on ski tours and ski mountaineering tours, have a safe skiing technique in the ascent (also with hairpin bends), in the descent as well as fitness for 4 hours or 1,200 meters of ascent.

"Ski touring in the middle of the Mediterranean - that does indeed sound very exotic, not to say absurd. But Crete actually offers fantastic ski touring opportunities on ideal ski mountains. Due to its special geographical location, Crete is considered an absolute firn paradise."

The region around Gudauri and the mountaineering village of Stepantsminda is best known for Mount Kazbek, at 5,047 meters the easternmost five-thousander in the High Caucasus. North of Lofoten and south of the Lyngen Alps, Senja offers a mountain landscape that is second to none, especially in spring. Racy summit tours alternate with gentle and enjoyable descents down to the sea. Our starting point is Hamn i Senja. Here you can enjoy the comfort of a lodge built right by the sea, with fresh, home-prepared food.

The Sunmore Alps rise out of the spectacular fjord landscape of Norway. Despite the supposedly low summit heights of just 2,000 m, the peaks of the Sunmore Alps are alpine and often glaciated. Fancy an unforgettable Iceland ski tour? Vikurhyrna is the name of a small, rather inconspicuous peak on the north coast of Iceland.
