Single push high tours
For mountaineers in good physical condition
Climbing high peaks as a single push in one day is a huge challenge.
You need to be exceptionally fit to climb these challenging peaks - ideally you are an endurance athlete with regular training and used to long ascents of over 1,800 m.
You meet up with your mountain guide in the morning and after a brief equipment check, off you go. For the single push tour, your rucksack should weigh no more than 4-5 kg (including food, drink, appropriate weather protection, a light harness, helmet, crampons and an ice axe). You will be light and fast on the way and with a speed of 600 m per hour (on the approaches) you will be significantly faster than most mountaineers who plan the tour with a lot of luggage and overnight stays in huts.
The following summits are planned as single push day tours:
Piz Palü (3,899 m) Single Push
Without a cable car and without an overnight stay on the Diavolezza, 2,000 m of ascent and descent await you. The crossing of the three Palü peaks is considered one of the best easy alpine tours in the Alps with easy climbing passages up to grade II on the Fortezza ridge and ice up to 40° on the eastern summit.
Alternatively, you can descend from the east summit via the normal route to Diavolezza.
Schedule:
06:00 am Start at the valley station of the Diavolezza cable car (2,000 m)
08:00 a.m. Diavolezza
11:00 a.m. Piz Palü east summit
13:00 Fortezzagrat
16:00 Diavolezza
17:00 Diavolezza parking lot
Grossglockner (3,798 m) Single Push
From the Lucknerhaus parking lot, 1,800 m of ascent and descent await you via the normal route. The ascent requires easy climbing on ice (up to 40°) and rock (up to II) in the summit area.
Schedule:
06:00 am Start at the Lucknerhaus parking lot
10:00 a.m. Erzherzog Johann Hütte
11:00 a.m. Grossglockner summit
15:00 Parking lot Lucknerhaus
Wildspitze (3,774 m) Single Push
From Vent, the summit of the Wildspitze seems close enough to touch. In fact, 1,900 m of challenging terrain with rock and ice passages await you on the ascent and descent. You can choose between the ascent via the Jubiläumsgrat, which is relatively easy in good conditions, or the normal route via Mittelbergjoch.
Schedule:
06:00 am Start at the Vent cable car parking lot
08:00 a.m. Breslauer Hütte
11:00 a.m. Wildspitze summit
15:00 Parking lot cable car Vent

"As a competitive athlete, I have always been fascinated by these extraordinary tours. What could be better than climbing from the valley to the summit in one go? What's more, with light luggage and an anti-cyclical schedule that promises little hustle and bustle, even on fashionable tours."
