Avalanche Symposium Zugspitze: An event in cooperation with the Bavarian Zugspitze Railway and Alpine and Alpine+:
Prevention is everything. This applies in particular to risk management in winter sports.
At the Zugspitze Avalanche Symposium, you will meet representatives from science, professional associations in mountain and ski sports, the police and mountain rescue services. The internationally recognized experts will provide you with the latest knowledge on the assessment of subjective and objective dangers in theory and practice.

8.00 am Meeting point at the valley station of the Bayerische Zugspitzseilbahn 9.00 am Start of the event at Sonnalpin with the following topics: - Update avalanche situation report with Dr. Thomas Feistl: preparation, reliability and AI - Update snowpack examination and test with Michael Gebhardt, state-certified police mountain guide and instructor - Update snow tests with Sepp Hümmer, state-certified army mountain guide and avalanche warden Update snow tests with Sepp Hümmer, state-certified army mountain guide, avalanche warning officer - Update winter risk management and GKMR method with Andreas Stippler, state-certified mountain and ski guide, state-certified ski instructor and freerider
Note on program changes: All courses and guided tours are conscientiously organized and carried out in accordance with the safety standards of the Vivalpin Mountain and Ski School with qualified specialists (e.g. mountain and ski guides, mountain hiking guides, etc.). The provisional tour program may be adjusted for safety-related reasons, such as bad weather, dangerous conditions, unforeseen natural events or inadequate conditions of the participants. The final program will be decided by the guide on site.
